Catchup

Late morning post today as yesterday was busy, and Amanda and I went to a late movie, while Dan puppy-sat for Baxter with the help of Aunt Nancy and Cousin David.

But first, some photos Uncle Cory took the other day with his new camera!  And one Dan took with Cory's camera :)

   

 

The streak of sleeping through the night is over.  The last 2 he's woken up around 4am, but then after eating will sleep until 8:30 or 9am.  He's zonked out during his 10pm bottle both times, so he doesn't get as stuffed as he needs to beforehand.  Maybe try again to move his bedtime up a little bit.

Puppy and baby and everyone else had a good time last night.

   

   

   

   

 

We got back real late and both babies were asleep by then. :)

This will most likely be my last post until Sunday night.  Aunt Martha and Aunt Anne, along with Uncle Murty and Uncle Todd are stopping by today.  Grandma Linda and Grandpa Matt will be watching Dex for New Year's Eve.  Then I'm at work on Friday and Dan is home with Dex, and my maternity leave is officially over.  I can't believe the last 4 months have gone by so quickly, and as hard as they've been at times, those days without the little guy seem like they were forever ago.

Here's to all the adventures we'll have in 2009!!! Happy New Year everybody! :D

Me and Baby

Dan worked late today, so Dex and I spent from 6:30am to 8:30pm with the little bugger.  LOTS of playtime and trying new things.  His grabbing skills are really improving!

He's officially named the peacock toy 'ooohwah' and if he could cram that whole thing into his mouth he would!

   

 

Here's a video of him messing around with some toys.  It's funny that I find the mundane stuff facinating, but he really gets smarter each day. 

We did go for a trip to the mall, but it was jammed with clumps of teenagers and as I'm now one of those people I always tried to scoot around (aka the mom who needs more sleep and is pushing a stroller the size of a small SUV) it wasn't real enjoyable.

After today's playtime, he zonked out with no fuss at bedtime.  Let's see if we can go for six nights in a row of sleeping through!

Dex's First Christmas

We all had a really nice Christmas, and got lots of great pictures.  Santa brought Dexter lots of fun things!  As there are so many pictures, I'll skip the narrative and get right to them!  The ones taken of my mom and Dex and I are courtesy of Glenn.  Thanks Glenn! :)

   

   

   

 

     

 

   

   

   

   

 

As you can see, he gets more and more photogenic by the day. And he has slept through the night for the last four nights in a row...! 

Baby Dexter meets Baby Baxter

Gift wrapping and last minute holiday tasks are calling so this blog is extra short, but extra cute.

Dext met Amanda's new puppy today, and his name is Baxter.  He's a Tibetian Terrier and he weighs just a little over 4lbs.  While Dex has him beat on weight, both little guys are currently without teeth, and enjoy chewing on their hands :)

   

This will be the last post until after Christmas, but we'll be seeing a lot of you over the next few days.  Merry Christmas, and check back on Monday for Dex's first Christmas recap!

SuperDrool

Dex slept from 10pm to 5:15am this morning, and after a big breakfast and a nap, he was raring to go.  

The Bumbo has a tray that can be attached, so I gave that a try and while he spent most of playtime trying to rip the tray off the Bumbo, he had a pretty good time. 

   

Lately, Dex is all about stuffing his fists into his mouth, and drooling up a storm.  No signs of any teeth yet, but at the rate he's going, I won't be suprised if he wakes up one morning with one.  I have to roll up the sleeves of whatever he's wearing so they're not soaked within a couple of minutes after getting dressed.

Also, he's a big fan of the song 'Take Me Out To The Ballgame' and no matter when I sang it this evening, he'd laugh.  It was on repeatedly during the Sabres game and usually singing any song is pretty popular with him. :)

   

He's also totally in tune with the bedtime routine, and just put up a fuss as Dan took him upstairs to his room.  He knows what that means, and didn't want to go to bed yet! 

Oh, and based on the numbers provided by our bathroom scale, we think the little munchkin now weighs a whopping 17lbs!

Big Little Man

Sleeping through the night seems to be a habit of the past these days, and Dex was up at 12:30am and then 6am on Friday.  Not that I had plans to leave the house for the day, but with all the snow and as our driveway didn't get plowed until 8:30PM, Dex and I stayed in.

 

We had some tummy time and he's getting really good at holding his head up off the floor.  He also encountered Fraggle :)

 

Dan worked late and then went Christmas shopping so while he was a pretty smiley guy for the day, after 15 hours together I was very ready for Dan to put him to bed. :)

Saturday we hung around the house for the morning and afternoon, and had the usual playtime fun.  Dex is really starting to grab things in his hand and wave them around, but he doesn't realize what he's got in his hand just yet.

   

 

Preparing for all the holiday get togethers this coming week, I baked my final batches of cookies, and while Dex wanted to help, we thought it was more productive for him to hang with dad for the couple of hours.

In the evening we met Grandpa Matt and Grandma Linda, along with Aunt Becky, for dinner.  Grandma and Grandpa hung out with Dex afterwards, while we went to the movies.

Sunday I met some friends for lunch and gift exchanging, while Dan stayed home with the litle guy.  He wasn't interested in napping all day, and while he had some fits of crabbiness, he really just wanted to play and suck on his hands.

 

After getting a solid 1 hour nap out of him, I did get a chance to complete the first step of cookie decorating.

 

It's so crazy to think that I've got less than 2 weeks of my maternity leave left.  I'm excited to get back into the 'real world' again, but January will be a challenge as we work out a schedule and a new routine.  While I feel a little nervous about it, it helps to think about everything that's happened in the last 12 months, and somehow it doesn't feel like such a big deal anymore.

Short on Photos

Dex technically slept until 7am this morning, but he was very chirpy from 5am onwards.  Nevertheless, I'll take it. :)

During playtime this morning, Dex showed off his new sleepysack.  Since he busts out of his swaddle so easily now, this kind of replicates it while keeping him warm.

 

The rest of the morning I tried to wrap presents, but it was tough to do with him in the Baby Bjorn.  Nothing like having a 16lb weight that drools strapped to your chest to make wrapping more fun :)

At lunch time, we headed to the office for a meeting, and Dex rocked his santa suit again.  The rest of the afternoon was pretty typical, and as Dan had to work late, Grandma Linda came over to watch Mr. Munchkin while I went to my Boot Camp class at the gym.

 

For the rest of the evening, we were a super productive family.  Dex was a great helper with our ongoing Christmas crafty project.  It'll get boring to keep reading about it, but as 3 month olds have short attention spans, we can only get so much cooperation per night :)

And since we got a bunch of comments on it, here's a comparison of Dex next to the Gerber Baby.  There's definitely a resemblance, no? ;)

Mr Hungry Slows Down

Dex was up early this morning, and so was his dad with a tummyache.  I had two meetings to go to, so Dan and Dex got to hang out.

 

Dan had the same observation as I did over the last few days.  Dex definitely isn't the bottomless pit that he used to be.  While he'll still let you know when he's hungry, for some meals, he's no longer scarfing down every last drop you put in front of him. 

Dex did watch us eat dinner at the table in his Bumbo.  His grabbing is really getting better, and next time we'll put the tray on so he can play with some toys.

 

After dinner it was time for the Sabres game.  Someone tried on Dan's hat for size.  In this picture you can't see that it really extends about 5 inches up in the air.

StinkBug

Tuesday morning Dex woke up at 5am, and after a solid feeding and some rocking, went back to sleep until 8:30am.  So it kind of felt like I slept in ;)

Today was a pretty average day, aside from the kiddo really giving off some stinky odors.  Doesn't seem to phase him in the least, but PEEEYEW he could clear a room!

   

Took him to lunch with friends at the Cheesecake Factory for lunch, and he did really well.  Here he is with Uncle Murty, and I'm not sure why Dex is making that lemon-face.

 

In the evening we all worked on some Christmas presents (as they require WiggleFidget's cooperation, it can be complicated) and then we went for a stroll around Target as a family.

Seems as though the gassy fella is giving Dan some trouble at bedtime now, so I'm going to assist.  Goodnight!
