Wednesday night it took me a little over 3 minutes to switch the laundry in the basement. How do I know? Because the whole time I was gone, Dan filmed Dex in his Exersaucer. What follows is 3 minute 3 second tug of war between Dex and the sun.
Make sure you have your volume up, as Dan's play by play makes it even funnier.
Tuesday night after I posted, Dex fell asleep in the carrier on Dan.
We got 40 minutes of quiet time, as he snoozed after we transferred him into the pack and play. He went to bed around 10pm, woke up at 3:30 to eat, and at 6am for his pacifier. He slept past 8 for Nicci this morning.
Good day today, and while I worked late, he was home with Dan and Grandma Linda. He took a nice long nap from around 6pm to 7:30, which he hasn't done in several days. He fussed for maybe a total of 5 minutes the rest of the evening, and put on a hilarious show in his Exersaucer. Video coming tomorrow night.
The tooth still hasn't popped through yet, but maybe the worst is over? Either way, it had been awhile since we'd had a calm day AND night, so I'll take it.
Here are the rest of the photos from Dad Day last Friday. This set is called 'Dex Gone Wild.' :)
Grandma Michele came to visit today, and Dex showed her all of his fun toys. We did have a couple of crabby spells, which I'm going to attribute to the growing lump on the top left side of his gums. But I think he set a new record for smiles!!
Monday night he went to bed an hour early as he wasn't interested in a dinnertime nap, and was tired and grumpy that his mouth hurt.
Looks like we're on track for the same thing tonight. It's 7:30pm now and the last nap he took was from 3:30 to 4pm. We've given him some baby Tylenol, and while that takes the edge off in the short term, the combo of not napping plus furious gnawing on his fist results in a sad little guy.
Last night we tried all sorts of things to calm him down, including this little mesh popsicle looking thing that you put food in for them to chew on. While Dex was confused by the flavor (I put cucumbers in it) he kept gumming it. And he had this awesome expression to share. Dan says it's totally 'the Bezek lip.'
Here's a picture of him hanging out with some of his favorite toys, and also him trying to talk his dad into getting him a snack from the fridge. Or rather showing him he'll just help himself!
And here's one of Dex and Aunt Becky from Monday!
Someone is cooing and singing while dad carries him around in the front carrier. Here's to hoping that he stays calm for the rest of the evening!
Here's a post from last Friday. Dex and Dad got bored, so Dex decided to play hide and seek and Dad had the camera ready. Can you find him in all these pictures?
Where in the world is Dex?
Here he is imitating ET in the closet.
Someone found a furry friend in a corner.
Did Dan shrink? Or did a midget steal his work hoodie?
He stayed up until 10:30pm, but slept until 8am Sunday morning. Dan's been testing out putting him to bed un-swaddled, and some nights it's more successful than others.
Sunday we again tried some cereal, and Dex just couldn't get enough. And had no complaints about wearing half of the cereal.
Later in the evening, he was quite the ham. :)
There's definitely a tooth coming in on the top of his mouth, and he goes through phases of being really grouchy. He also shows no sign of returning to his normal poop schedule, so that might also be contributing.
Sounds like someone is putting up a major fight for bedtime. Gotta go!
Of course the little guy was calm Wednesday night...he apparently was saving up his energy for a restless night! Dex went to bed at 10pm, and was up at 12:30am, 3:30am, and 6am. Each time it took a half hour to feed him and calm him back down.
No clue what caused it, but probably a combination of the shots and being behind on his poop schedule.
He finally woke up for the day around 10:30am, and was a little fussy for Nicci, and she reported that he had a maaaajor visit from the poop fairy.
I worked late, and met Dan, Dex, Grandma Linda, and Grandpa Matt out at dinner. The little guy got fussy towards the end and needed a change of scenery, but was otherwise fine. The 2 minute ride home was enough to conk him out....and his dad too. They've both been asleep for the last hour and a half :)
We had planned to give the little guy a bath tonight, as well as try out a couple of spoonfuls of rice cereal, but at this point, I'm not sure what will work out. As Dan's day home with him is tomorrow, I think I might just help with the feeding when he wakes up from his nap, and then go to bed!
As a result, no new photos today, but I am uploading a video that I'll post tomorrow morning, as it takes awhile for the free service to convert it.
Dex woke up at 4:30am Wednesday morning, but after a feeding he went back to sleep until 9am. Why doesn't that happen on the days I stay home with him? ;)
Nicci said he was a little extra sleepier than usual today, and when Dan got home she had just put him down for a nap. He stayed asleep until 6:15pm. He normally takes a dinnertime nap, but it always is on one of our laps, so it was so strange for both of us to be home and neither of us having a baby to tend to!
He'd been a little stopped up the last few days, and yesterday the doc suggested that we try a little bit of prune juice with his next bottle. So after his nap we tried it, and sure enough, it worked a half hour later!
We're all done with dinner and chores, and it's only 7:15pm. Very weird. He's in his exersaucer now, and dispite the goofy look on his face, he's much calmer and quieter than usual.
So other than a case of the sleepies, he seems to have tolerated this round of shots no problem. Looks like my presence is requested at the saucer! Goodnight!
We got put in the 'Lion' room on this visit, so there's a different background for his 4 month checkup photo, but you get the idea. Comparison below! Click on them to make them bigger
September 18th- 8lbs 1 oz November 14th- 13lbs 15 oz January 20th- 17lbs 14oz
He wasn't happy to get his shots, but the doc said he's a totally healthy boy! He's in the 90th percentile for weight, just like at his 2 month visit. 50th for head, just like his last visit, and 97th for length. That's up from 80th at his last visit.
He's a tall little guy and clocks in at 27 inches long. He was born at 21.5 so he's grown 5.5 inches in 4 months. Next appt is on St. Patrick's day. And to think that January once seemed far away...:)
Someone woke up at 4am to eat, and then slept in for Aunt Becky until 8:30am. Grandma Linda came over to take over for Becky at the end of the day, and he snoozed for most of her visit. He was all smiles when he woke up, and had fun with his octopus while we made dinner.
He was awake all evening from 6:15pm to 10pm, when Dan finally put him to bed. He was pretty crabby towards the end, and had a very short attention span for everything. Nothing made him happy for more than a couple of minutes! We suspect it was a combination of a bunch of things. Either way, he'll get a full checkup tomorrow at 3pm. Maybe he was just nervous thinking about it? ;)
Each and every day, Dex learns new things! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were all happy days for him.
Friday he played with Dad and he convinced his Dad that he knew to push the 'cat' button on his exersaucer anytime a cat was nearby.
Saturday he fell in love with a Taco Bell cup, and tried to steal it from me. When I took it away he reached his arms out trying to grab it back! We also went out to dinner while Dan had a party at the house and he was awake and interested the whole time.
Sunday he confirmed that he loves all of his toys on his exersaucer, and is almost all enough to touch his feet to the floor when in his bouncer. He definitely wants to be involved with us at all times, so eating meals with us is now a regular thing. :)
Here are pictures from those couple of days. Tuesday is his 4 month doctor's appointment!
