Dex went to bed at 8pm, but woke up at 11pm, 2am, 4am, 5am, and 7am last night/Tuesday morning. He was SO upset and each time just wanted to be held, rather than scarf a lot of food. Dan took the 5am shift, and actually brought him downstairs to play for a little bit, and then the culprit was discovered.
Diaper explosion!
Dex did damage up to his neck.
Dan got him cleaned up and put him back to bed at 6am, where he stayed quiet until 7am. I got up with him then, and felt totally out of it, but I was sad since he was clearly not happy either. He was hoarse from screaming so much, had a crusty nose, and was coughing. The latter was more for 'fun' as he's figured out how to cough now, so he adds a couple of bonus fun ones onto each real one.
I took his temperature, and it was fine, but it was only after he took a two hour nap in the morning that he got sort of back to normal. He still sounds pretty pitiful as his voice isn't back to normal yet, but at least he doesn't appear to be getting worse.
Grandma Michele was coming in the afternoon so I could go to work for a presentation, and I found a tactic that kept him happy while I did some work. Hand him a Dixie cup and he'll attack it until it's either a ball of mush, or on the floor. Each one = about 4 minutes of fun! :)
It's also hilarious to see him watch and/or grab at the cat's tails as they walk by when he's in the exersaucer. His furry 'brothers' better enjoy this next month or so before he's after them!
He now is either entranced or angry when I eat in front of him. He definitely knows what a spoon is, and wants everything I have.
We suspect the sleepless night was due to trying a new organic multi-grain cereal in his before-bed bottle. It also contained probiotics, so that may have been more than his system was used to!
He did have a nice afternoon with Grandma, with only a couple of fussy bursts, and he went to bed about 8:30 tonight. Hopefully things will go smoother tonight.
Oh, and we gave him a bath and realized we need to clear everything off the windowsill by the sink. Potted plant? Decorative junk? Unless we want it in the water, it needs to go! Babyproofing, here we come.
