Supercute

It's amazing what a gradual increase in sleep will due for a person.  I think I've begun to regain some brain cells! :)  Dex goes to sleep like a champ every night (between 8 and 8:30), and if he does wake up at any point during the overnight, it's usually because he bonked himself, or got in a weird position and he just needs very little soothing or a couple of sips of bottle to go back to sleep.

The norm is that he'll wake up around 5am or 6am for a bottle and then sleep until 7am or 7:30am.  It's soooo nice.

This morning he was up a little before 7, so Dan and I got some morning time with him, and I got to say goodbye while he was eating his breakfast.  Dan and I both had things going on after work, so he spent some time with Grandma Linda, and then we both got to take care of him for bathtime and bedtime.  He was so affectionate and happy, we wondered if he'd calm down for sleep! I got 2 giant sloppy kisses which were the best. :)

 

 

Hi from Dex

Hey everybody!  Mom and Dad went to see a movie Monday night, while I stayed home with Grandma Linda and Grandpa Matt.  We had lots of fun!

Tuesday Grandma Michele came to visit and brought me some new toys (you'll see pictures soon) and we had lots of fun.  I made sure to give her a big kiss too!

I'm a busy guy and I'm on the go nonstop!  Bet you can't keep up with me! ;)

Naptime went out the window this weekend, and Dex was content to do his own thing, whenever and wherever.  Especially because whenever we put him down to nap, he POOPED and that wasn't conducive to napping. 

Here's some of his other recent happenings:

-He's happy to flip all of his 'vehicles' over and push them around upside down.  In fact, the more difficult it is to push, the better!

-His top teeth keep coming in further, and now you can see one of the top middles every time he laughs.  But just one of them, so it's goofy looking.

-He wants to climb everything, and I've attached the now famous photo from this past Friday below.  Dan wanted to get a photo of him standing on his own, and by the time he got the camera to capture it, THAT was happening.

-He does stand on his own for 10 to 20 seconds at a time.  Until he wants to get something or he realizes he's standing.

-He drinks about 16 oz of water per day from his sippy cup...that's 4 refills.  We'll add 1 oz juice to 3 oz of water, but still.  He's a thirsty kid!

-Goldfish and blueberries are currently his favorite foods.  Yogurt and any other finger-fruit are close seconds.

-He says something that sounds like 'thank you' and can now say 'ba ba ba ba' really loud, for long periods of time.  Like at Target.  Through 10 aisles in a row. :)

-He's a crazy adventureous boy.  And I can't believe he's only a month and a half from being ONE!!!

 

 

Groundhog Day

So today was pretty much like yesterday.  Get home, discover broken A/C, call repair guy.

This time it was evident that a rodent of some sort gobbled up all of the NEWLY REPAIRED wiring outside.  It was so bad that it shorted out some equipment inside.  We opted not to have it replaced tonight, as the repair guy didn't have all the parts he needed, and the items he did have, could just be chewed through again overnight.

So we're without A/C tonight and will hopefully resolve this all tomorrow.  And hopefully our trap outside catches whatever is going this.  The same thing happened to us LAST YEAR and I'm tired of spending hundreds of dollars to feed some mouse's electricity habit.  Boooo!

In the meantime, Dex doesn't seem to mind, and enjoyed having all of the windows open as it's fun to yell at kids riding their bikes outside. :)

Goofalope

I got home from work to find Dex crabby from an interrupted afternoon nap.  He took a huge poo in the middle of it, as well as scratched up his bottom with his razor sharp fingernails, and all that = grumpy boy.

Add that to the fact that our air conditioner had stopped working this afternoon, and we were gearing up for a stressful evening.

While Dan waited for the air conditioner repair man, Dex and I went for a drive, and to get dinner.  I though he might fall asleep and I could trim his nails.  He stayed awake and happy the whole half hour, and made the staff of the sushi restaurant all ooh and aah over him.

He ate dinner while we at dinner, and before long our a/c was fixed, and all was right with the world.  WHEW.  Not the evening I had intended, but oh well.  That's life these days :)

 

 

Messface Monday

After work today we ran some errands, and took Dex around the entire plaza in his stroller.  He was totally content, and drank an entire sippy cup of water/juice during our outing. 

Got home for a quick dinner, and he made sure to get a little dab of everything he ate on his face, and I then wisked him up to his bath, and then it was off to bed.  Goodnight!

Our baby is a ham

When he's not in desperate need of chewing on the camera, Dex is a total ham for it.  He had a pretty goofy weekend, and spent Saturday night with Grandma Linda and Grandpa Matt, and then went to Cousin Cassie's graduation party on Sunday.

Friday he did say 'juice' when Dan offered him his sippy cup.  It was the first time he said a word when we didn't say it first!  We've been trying to get him to do it again, but no luck.

He also had a record 5 poops on Saturday, after not pooping it all on Friday.  I suspect he worked out a deal with his dad to so that he didn't have to change any poopy diapers on his own.  ;)

He's still a champ when it comes to his sleep routine these days.  All issues are totally gone!  Now feeding him baby food is becoming the daily battle.  He'd much rather have goldfish crackers, raspberries, or anything else he can crunch and munch on.

Oops

I brought the camera with me to a work event Wednesday night, and never took it out of my purse.  Sooo no pictures yesterday, no pictures today.  Sorry!

Dex has been sleeping well *knock on wood* and now enjoys goldfish crackers. :)  He's standing on his own more and more, though he doesn't realize that he's doing it.

He's also making more sounds that resemble words, and his little 'conversations' with you can go on for quite awhile.

We've also moved him up a size in diapers (5!) and he's going to start taking swim lessons with Dan in August.  I think they'll be more like splashing/floating lessons, but that's fine.

Totally going to jinx it....

But Dex has been sleeping through the night for the past couple days in a row.  And he's been going to bed without a fight for at least the last month.  Now I'm sure he'll have a horrid night tonight because I brought this up, but whatever.  :)

 

I don't think I'll have a chance to post Wednesday night, and I'm taking the camera with me to a work event, so here's a bonus video from this past weekend to make up for it.  Dex loved the footrest on wheels at Grandma Linda and Grandpa Matt's house!
