It's been awhile since I posted about some of the things Dex can do and say, so I figured I'd write about that.
New words: Bus, hat, eat (while pointing at the high chair, or a picture of one in his book), cookie (when offered a cookie or looking at cookie monster) and hot (which means lots of things, including lights).
The last couple of morning's he's called for 'mama' and 'dada' when he wakes up
He's really good at pulling apart big lego blocks, or doing more detailed things with his hands
Changing diapers while standing up isn't necessary anymore. He's learned to chill out and it's no longer a struggle most of the time.
He can pick the letter S out of a lineup. Lately if I wear a shirt with words on it, he picks out all of the S's.
Bathtime is very important, and he doesn't usually want to get out. I'll drain all the water out of the tub, and he'll still scooch to the far wall and try to hold on to the tub!
Here are some cute pictures from Monday and Tuesday.

After 2 nights of sleeping through the night, Dex decided to skip his nap on Saturday, and have a full on meltdown for 3 straight hours, and all through the night. We think it was a combo of belly issues that all the screaming just amplified, but who knows. We were just as miserable as he was!
The rest of the weekend was happy, and here are some highlights:
Playing with his new giant rubber dinosaur, watching Sesame Street up close, going to Lollypop Farm, playing in Grandpa Matt's barn, riding his dumptruck around the house, and making a blueberry mess and leaving his mark on Dan. And a cute video of him and one of his blankets.

I'd intended to put up a lengthy post tonight, but then my computer alerted me that it had 7 viruses. 3 hours later, they're gone, but I'm tired. :( Thank goodness Dex goes to sleep at the same time each night with no issues. Knock on wood. We've been able to put him down between 8 and 8:15 for the last few weeks, even with the time change. Yahoo!

FRIDAY: Dan and Dex had a fun day together (Dex posed for several photos sprawling on the couch), and Grandma Linda came over to spend the evening with Dex so Dan and I could go out. HOO. RAY!
SATURDAY: This year's Halloween was much different from last year's. We spent the morning playing with decorations, then went to run some errands, took him to lunch, and finally dressed him up in his Ewok costume to go to Wegmans.
We stopped by to see Great Grandma Shirly and Great Grandpa Frank on the way back, and Dex encountered a wooden goose at their house that he thought was kind of interesting.
That evening, he was a pro at trick or treating, and even held his pumpkin all by himself. The only downside was that for the 20 minutes we were gone from our house, we left a sign and a candy bowl out, and when we got home, the bowl and all of its contents were gone. Boooo!
SUNDAY: We met Grandpa Matt and Grandma Linda for breakfast, and then went to Target to find Halloween clearance goodies. After naptime, Dan and I took him to the Strong National Museum of Play. He loved it, but was moving so fast it was hard to get any good pictures. We took him through the butterfly pavilion, and he wasn't quite sure what to make of it.
We ended the evening by putting him in his superhero jammies, which could be a Halloween costume all on their own.
The photos are a little out of order, but what can you do. :)
Dan here. Tonight Dex and I were reviewing farm animals. Cow moo, Horse neigh. Sheep baa. And pig wee wee wee? You cant blame him for thinking that. We often play "this little piggy", but the funny part is that we accidentally reinforce his "wee wee wee". He loves a picture book of Baby's First 100 Words. In it there is a guinea pig that would actually say "wee wee wee wee". Learning to talk and understand speech is an amazing thing!

Well, we've been here this week, but I haven't had a time to post.
Dan was officially sick as of Monday morning, so that made life more complicated as it was his turn in quarantine this time. Dex and I went to the gym after work, and Dex got to go to the gym daycare. It was his first time EVER at a daycare, and he was really excited at first....
Then after I left, he noticed I was gone and had a meltdown.
Over the next hour, several members of the gym staff kept him occupied, and we made it through.
I think all of the excitement helped him to sleep through the night that night :)
Tuesday he slept until 9am, and he was a good boy while I did work during the day. In the evening we ran errands, which included going to the pet store, where he got to see birds and fish and cats. He was very entertained.
I also gave up on using the toddler tub for bathtime, as he kept hopping out and wanting to dump it. He loved the 'real' bathtub and was entranced with the water pouring from the faucet.
Dan was feeling better on Wednesday, and he came out of quarantine in the evening. But as we're really busy at work, my typical routine was to work for a couple of more hours after Dex was in bed.
I'm relieved to be able to take a break from that tonight! Dan is feeling much better, and we all went out to dinner and to Target afterwards.
I joke that Dex is 'The Mayor' of Target because he smiles and coos like he knows everyone! I keep looking over expecting it to be a relative or a friend, but it never is. He just loves to be out and about.
On the learning front, he can pick out the letter S when it's on a sign or is in his bath toy cutouts. He's also getting really good at putting things in drawers and bags. Example? Tonight Nicci called me saying she had my cell phone. Dex was playing with it when I got home and stealthily put it in her bag, and none of us noticed! He is SMART.
Didn't get too many pictures over the last few days, so here's the best one of the bunch. Mmm raspberries!

This weekend, Dex got to play with a toy that Grandma Michele bought him before he was born. This lion has been hanging out in the nursery, and Dan brought it out for a change and Dex was in love with it! He gave the lion lots of smooches :)
He also got to play in the leaves, and is now a fan of raking. We did all sorts of fun things this weekend, and he got to visit with Aunt Anne and Aunt Martha, as well as Grandma Linda and Grandpa Matt.
Unfortunately, he has had a runny nose since Friday, and now Dan has the sniffles. It's always something!

My coworkers got me some (and some is an understatement!) balloons for my birthday, and Dex was a huge fan of them. He also tried on his Sabres jersey for the first time (size 3T) and thought it was pretty neat.
He's learning more and more words, and can even pick the letter S out from his bath toys. He'll bring you things if you ask for them, and has recently learned 'duck,' 'hook' and 'cork'. Grandpa Matt taught him hook, and now anything that looks like a clothes hanger or is made out of metal wire is one. Cork is what we call his pacifier, and Dan got him to say it in the video below. Of course, it was only a distraction from him stealing one of my shoes.

Tonight Dex was being a total ham, and we got two great videos.
The first one shows how he knows where his belly, hair, ears, and mouth are.
The second one shows how he goes non-stop these days, and is a big fan of putting things over his head and running around. And chasing Blinky :)
